Moseley Architects Honored as Community Change Agent in the Carolinas

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Carolinas Chapter has honored Moseley Architects as the Community Change Agent for Professional Services in the 2018 Sustainable Business Awards. This award recognizes any leader, organization, company or governmental entity that has demonstrated leadership in sustainability at exceptional scale.

With a diverse portfolio of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects, Designed to Earn the Energy Star certifications, and a strong commitment to the sustainability of their own operations, Moseley Architects has been a recognized pioneer in high-performance and sustainable design practices and strategies for nearly twenty years.

Based on the combination of the modeled energy and water savings of each project along with their construction waste savings, the firm’s estimated portfolio-wide impact represents:

• Annual energy savings equivalent to permanently removing 2,900 average US households from the grid
• Annual water savings equivalent to 100 Olympic-sized swimming pools
• Construction and demolition waste savings equivalent to four and a half football fields twenty feet deep

More than 820,000 square feet of Moseley Architects’ projects currently in design or construction in the Carolinas are LEED Registered. The firm has designed 15 LEED Certified projects in the Carolinas, encompassing 1.7 million square feet from a wide range of building types. Precedent-setting projects in their portfolio include:

Moseley Architects has also designed 16 Designed to Earn the Energy Star (DEES) buildings throughout the Carolinas. This achievement contributed greatly to the firm’s recognition as a 2018 Energy Star Partner of the Year, the Environmental Protection Agency’s highest honor for energy efficiency.

Director of Energy Analytics and Informed Design John Nichols accepted the award at the Carolinas Green Gala on November 28.
