Moseley Architects Welcomes New Higher Education Sector Leader
David Prevette

Moseley Architects proudly announces David Prevette as its new higher education sector leader. He follows the firm’s president, Jeff Hyder, who assumed the role in 2015.

“We are very excited to have David join us as our higher education market sector leader. I look forward to working with him to continue providing quality design services to our higher education clients in Virginia and across the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Jeff. “Clients and colleagues will all benefit from his experience and market-specific expertise.”

David joins the firm with nearly 25 years of campus planning, design and construction experience, routinely serving as a primary point of contact for his clients. He’s worked for five prominent Virginia architectural firms, including BeeryRio (2002) with Bill Brown and Eka Rahardjo, before its merger with Moseley Architects. His proven track record in design and leadership, along with his passion for impactful outcomes, drew David to this opportunity.

Design and Leadership

David approaches his work with an understanding of long-term outcomes and a meticulous eye for detail. With a focus on improving the student experience, he strives to create functional built environments on college and university campuses that benefit human connection above all else.

“Our profession gets to serve this generation and future generations by transforming our physical surroundings,” said David. “One of my greatest hopes with every design is that it will not only make an effective floor plan a reality but help students find a sense of community and belonging.”

As a leader, he prioritizes close collaboration and communication with colleagues. He believes encouragement, trust and perseverance are vital to success. David commits to continual learning and growth, aspiring to innovate while strengthening his team in all they undertake.

“I believe in listening and pulling out the strengths of each team member, so that their individual gifts and abilities can all play critical roles in the health and success of our work. My approach is to be an encourager, keeping my team’s spirit high amid any challenges.”

Looking Ahead

David looks forward to applying his experience and enthusiasm to his new role. For him, this opportunity means building upon the sector’s accomplishments to help further its mission, and being a present, reliable leader on the Moseley Architects team.

“This role is all about ensuring that others have what they need to succeed—new design opportunities, a closeness of community and the chance for us to work toward a common, profitable vision,” David said. “I hope I can keep our high level of success in the higher education sector and continue the legacy that Jeff and so many others at Moseley Architects have established.”
