2024 South Carolina Academy to Envision Tomorrow’s Schools

In April 2024, a cohort of South Carolina’s most distinguished educators converged in Charleston for the Academy to Envision Tomorrow’s Schools, a design workshop hosted by Moseley Architects. The event was the third of its kind, preceded by workshops in Virginia (2016) and North Carolina (2019).

The Academy’s central mission was to explore the intersection of educational philosophy and architectural design, with a specific focus on creating learning environments that not only meet the practical needs of students and teachers but also inspire and empower them to reach their full potential. This gathering aimed to harness the collective wisdom of teachers, referred to as “Fellows,” who had been recognized by the South Carolina Department of Education as “teachers of the year” for their exceptional contributions to the classroom.

The following whitepaper shares the insights we gleaned from this collaborative endeavor, which promises to shape the way we think about the role of physical space in the educational landscape.
