Old Dominion University, Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium
Designed to allow the university to compete in other NCAA football programs, the new Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium is an improved multi-purpose facility that proudly represents Old Dominion University athletics. Opened in 1936, this historic stadium required renovations to boost the gameday atmosphere, improve the fan experience, and integrate modern stadium amenities to compete with peer institutions. New stadium features include a tower for coaching staff and press, premium seating, and donor entertainment areas that increase revenue generation.
Other project goals involved premium bowl seating that improve comfort and visibility; upgraded amenities like elevators, concessions, more restrooms, and improved audio and video components; and preserving the university’s heritage through memorializing the brick pattern and iconic arches of the original stadium.
