This expansion of the county’s historic courthouse allows for the accommodation of the superior court, district court, clerk of court, district attorney, and sheriff’s office administration. The total area of the courthouse is now over 101,100 square feet.

The project’s expansion adds 37,700 square feet, including 4,300 square feet of unfinished shell space. Part of the shell space was specifically planned for a future courtroom. Areas vacated by the move into the expansion were renovated. These vacated spaces were repurposed to accommodate the expansion of the clerk of court and sheriff’s offices. The sheriff’s offices include both administration and investigation spaces.

The expansion includes an underground tunnel that connects the jail to the courtrooms for efficient prisoner transportation.
