At the foundation of all operations lies an integrated security approach that begins at a central screening checkpoint—a single entry point for all visitors. IP cameras monitor the premises while network video storage preserves security data. Intercoms enable immediate communication, and card readers paired with glass break sensors protect restricted areas.
The design team implemented security upgrades in phases. The new components operate independently when required, gradually integrating with existing systems to maintain continuous protection during installation.
Within this secure perimeter, two criminal courtrooms form the core of judicial operations, accompanied by specialized spaces for plea proceedings, magistrate hearings, and DUI cases. The jury assembly area provides enhanced accommodations, while court personnel access the building through a dedicated entrance linked to the parking structure.
Supporting these judicial proceedings, the solicitor's offices, public defender's chambers, and clerk of court facilities received significant upgrades. Natural light flows through the windows, creating productive workspaces while maintaining security requirements. The building's exterior design balances accessibility with the gravitas appropriate for judicial proceedings.
The law enforcement section connects investigation units, patrol operations, narcotics teams, and victim advocacy offices for optimal workflow. Public services, including records identification and sex offender registry, occupy accessible locations. A training classroom supports continuing education and departmental meetings.
Working in concert with law enforcement, the forensic complex includes specialized laboratories for DNA analysis and ballistics testing. Evidence management incorporates examination rooms and vehicle bays, supporting proper chain of custody from collection through presentation in court.
A 300-vehicle parking structure includes designated areas for judges and staff, facilitating secure access to the complex. The construction sequence minimized interference with daily operations as crews completed each phase of the project.
Throughout the facility, integrated structural, mechanical, and fire protection systems support specialized functions. Environmental controls maintain precise conditions for forensic work, while security measures protect staff and visitors throughout the complex.
