Athletics Complex

The two-story athletics wing makes efficient use of vertical space. The lower level contains physical education facilities and team locker rooms, while classrooms occupy the upper floor. A three-court gymnasium accommodates 2,200 spectators, with an adjacent corridor that functions as both event lobby and secure entrance for after-hours community access.

Performing Arts Center

Students in music, theater, and visual arts programs now work in specialized spaces surrounding a 1,600-seat auditorium. The design places band, chorus, drama, and art rooms next to the performance venue, creating an integrated center that supports both education and community events.

Building Systems

Targeted improvements have increased efficiency throughout the building. The project replaced old steam heating infrastructure with a high-efficiency four-pipe VAV HVAC system. Air-cooled chillers paired with condensing boilers provide improved temperature control. Demand-controlled ventilation captures energy from exhaust air, reducing energy use. Equipment placement prioritizes classroom acoustics by removing noise-generating machinery where possible.

Technical Design

Moseley's engineering team employed REVIT/BIM modeling to integrate complex systems, particularly when addressing existing building conditions. This digital approach enabled precise coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components while consolidating equipment to simplify maintenance access.

Construction Planning

The renovation proceeded in phases to maintain school operations. Multiple bid packages divided work into manageable segments. This method preserved essential academic functions during construction while allowing systematic updates to spaces and systems. Collaboration between design and construction teams helped minimize disruption to daily school activities.
